USDA Invests $313 Million to Modernize Rural Electric Grid in Georgia

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has announced a significant investment of $313 million to support four Georgia electric cooperatives and utilities, including GreyStone Power Corporation, in their efforts to modernize the rural electric grid. This major undertaking is aimed at enhancing grid security, reliability, and efficiency, ultimately benefiting thousands of consumers across the state.

Located on the west side of Atlanta, GreyStone Power Corporation serves a significant portion of eight metropolitan Atlanta counties, providing reliable power to over 141,000 customers through its extensive network of approximately 7,355 miles of line. As part of this initiative, the company will receive $141,938,000 to connect 10,948 consumers and build and improve an additional 502 miles of line.

The USDA's investment in Excelsior EMC Power and other Georgia-based electric cooperatives is a testament to its commitment to supporting rural communities and promoting sustainable development.
